COMEDK UGET (COMEDK Undergraduate Entrance Test) is the engineering entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka. Its rank is used for B.E. and B.Tech admission to about 150 private engineering colleges in Karnataka, including many well-known colleges in Bengaluru.

What is COMEDK UGET?

COMEDK is an autonomous body that determines merit for the member private professional colleges of Karnataka. For engineering, it fills the seats set aside for it in these colleges, which amount to many thousands of B.E. and B.Tech seats.

COMEDK UGET is held together with Uni-GAUGE, a test used by a group of private universities. Candidates can take one test and get separate scorecards, but counseling for the two is run separately.

The exam is usually held on a single day in several shifts, at test centers in many cities across India. Because there is only one attempt a year, plan your revision so that you peak in May rather than only for JEE Main.

COMEDK eligibility

COMEDK eligibility is based on your Class 12 or second PUC subjects and marks. There is no domicile requirement for the COMEDK seats, and COMEDK does not set a separate age limit.

Passed Class 12, second PUC or an equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with English
The third subject can be Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science or Electronics
At least 45 percent aggregate in the three subjects, or 40 percent for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka
Passed each subject individually
Indian citizens, OCI and PIO candidates can apply. Diploma holders are not eligible.

The COMEDK exam pattern is balanced across the three subjects. Each has 60 multiple-choice questions, and you get 3 hours for all 180.

COMEDK syllabus

The COMEDK syllabus is drawn from the Class 11 and 12 (first and second PUC) curriculum in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. COMEDK publishes the detailed syllabus with each notification.

Physics: measurement, kinematics, laws of motion, work and energy, rotation, gravitation, properties of matter, thermodynamics, oscillations and waves, electrostatics, current electricity, magnetism, electromagnetic induction, optics and modern physics
Chemistry: basic concepts, atomic structure, periodic table, bonding, states of matter, thermodynamics, equilibrium, redox, electrochemistry, kinetics, inorganic chemistry of main groups and transition elements, and organic chemistry
Mathematics: sets, relations and functions, trigonometry, complex numbers, algebra, matrices and determinants, permutations and combinations, coordinate geometry, calculus, vectors, 3D geometry, probability and statistics

COMEDK result, counseling and colleges

COMEDK releases a provisional answer key, takes objections, and then publishes ranks, usually a few weeks after the exam. Your rank is based on your total marks out of 180.

Seats are filled through centralized online counseling run by COMEDK in several rounds. You register, verify documents, enter your college and branch choices and get seats based on rank. Colleges accepting COMEDK score include most private engineering colleges in Karnataka that are members of the consortium. Check the current seat matrix for the list.

How to prepare for COMEDK

COMEDK gives you exactly one minute per question. Questions are mostly at NCERT and state board level, so success comes from wide coverage and speed.

Give equal time to all three subjects. Each carries the same 60 marks.
Answer every question. There is no negative marking, so an educated guess can only help.
Practice timed sets of 60 questions in 60 minutes for each subject to build pace.
Revise formulas daily in the final month. Many Physics and Mathematics questions are one-step applications.
Solve previous COMEDK papers to learn the level and the recurring topics. You can log mock scores and chapter progress in Kosuki.
If you are also preparing for JEE Main, COMEDK needs little extra study. Add speed practice and a few full mocks.

How to apply for COMEDK UGET

Register on the official COMEDK website when the notification is released.
Fill in your academic details and choose test cities.
Upload your photograph, signature and ID proof, then pay the fee online.
Download the admit card and take the exam on the scheduled day.
After ranks are published, register for COMEDK counseling and complete document verification.

Is there negative marking in COMEDK?

No. Each correct answer gets 1 mark and wrong answers do not lose marks.

Can students from other states apply for COMEDK?

Yes. COMEDK UGET is open to students from all states, and there is no Karnataka domicile requirement for COMEDK seats.

What percentage is needed for COMEDK?

You need at least 45 percent aggregate in Physics, Mathematics and the third subject, or 40 percent for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka.

How many questions are in COMEDK UGET?

COMEDK does not set its own age limit. The notice says B.Tech eligibility follows AICTE and VTU norms.

Is the COMEDK syllabus the same as JEE Main?

It covers much the same Class 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics topics, but COMEDK questions are usually more direct and closer to board level.
