SRMJEEE (SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination) is the B.Tech entrance exam conducted by SRM Institute of Science and Technology. It is the common entrance test for SRM campuses and SRM group universities, including Kattankulathur, Ramapuram and Vadapalani in Chennai, Delhi-NCR (Ghaziabad), Sonepat in Haryana, SRM University AP (Amaravati) and SRM University Sikkim.

The exam runs in up to three phases each year and has no negative marking. This guide explains the SRMJEEE exam pattern, eligibility, syllabus, counseling and how to prepare.

What is SRMJEEE?

SRMJEEE is SRM’s own test for B.Tech admission. Students with Mathematics take the engineering paper. Students with Biology take a version with Biology in place of Mathematics, which leads to programs such as biotechnology and biomedical engineering.

You can appear in more than one phase. In recent cycles SRM has held the test in Remote Proctored Online Mode, which means you take it from home on a laptop or desktop with a webcam, not on a phone.

SRMJEEE eligibility

SRMJEEE eligibility is based on Class 12 subjects and marks. Some programs have their own subject rules, so read the program list before you apply.

• Class 12 or equivalent from a recognized board, or appearing in the current year
• At least 60 percent aggregate in Physics, Mathematics and one more science subject such as Chemistry, Biology or Computer Science
• Physics and Mathematics are compulsory for most B.Tech programs
• Bio-based programs accept Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics combinations, as listed by SRM
• Other SRM group campuses may set their own marks criteria

SRMJEEE exam pattern

The paper has 130 multiple-choice questions in four sections. There is no sectional time limit, so you can move between sections at any point.

SRMJEEE marking scheme

The SRMJEEE marking scheme is one of the simplest among engineering entrance exams.

• Correct answer: +1 mark
• Wrong answer: 0, as there is no negative marking
• Unanswered: 0
• Because there is no penalty, you should answer every question before time runs out

SRMJEEE syllabus

The SRMJEEE syllabus follows Class 11 and 12 topics. SRM publishes the detailed list on its admissions pages.

• Physics: units and measurement, mechanics, gravitation, properties of matter, oscillations and waves, heat and thermodynamics, ray and wave optics, electricity and magnetism, atomic and nuclear physics, and electronics
• Chemistry: basic concepts, states of matter, chemical families, bonding, thermodynamics, equilibrium, electrochemistry, kinetics, and organic chemistry with functional groups and polymers
• Mathematics: sets and functions, complex numbers, matrices, quadratic equations, sequences and series, calculus, differential equations, coordinate geometry, vectors, statistics, probability and trigonometry
• Biology: cell biology, genetics, biotechnology, physiology and ecology
• English and Aptitude: grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, number problems, logical reasoning and data interpretation

SRMJEEE result and counseling

SRM publishes ranks after each phase. Seats are allotted through counseling based on your rank, seat availability and your choice of campus and program. Students with higher ranks get earlier counseling slots.

SRM also offers merit scholarships in the form of fee waivers, linked to your SRMJEEE rank and Class 12 marks. The rules change each year, so read the scholarship notice for your cycle. Counseling involves fees, so check the refund rules on the official website before paying.

How to prepare for SRMJEEE

SRMJEEE questions are mostly at board level, and there is no penalty for wrong answers. The test is about covering the syllabus widely and finishing on time.

• Revise NCERT Physics and Chemistry chapter by chapter. Most questions test direct concepts and formulas.
• Give Mathematics extra time. It carries 40 questions, the largest single section.
• Attempt every question. With no negative marking, a blank answer is a lost chance.
• Practice on a laptop with a timer. The remote proctored mode means you should be comfortable with an online interface and a stable setup at home.
• Use an early phase as a real attempt and a later phase to improve, if your plans allow. You can track mock scores and topic progress in Kosuki.
• Check your webcam, internet and room setup well before the exam, as the proctoring rules are strict.

How to apply for SRMJEEE

1. Register on the SRMIST admissions portal for B.Tech.
2. Fill in your details, choose your preferred campuses and the phase you want to take.
3. Pay the application fee online.
4. Book your exam slot and complete the system check for the remote proctored test.
5. Download your admit card, take the exam and then register for counseling after your rank is out.
