MAH B.Ed CET is the Maharashtra B.Ed Common Entrance Test, conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, for admission to the two-year B.Ed program in government, aided, university-managed and unaided colleges across the state. Your score, converted to a percentile, is used in the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) to allot seats.

The main paper is a 100-question online test covering Mental Ability, General Knowledge and Teacher Aptitude, with no negative marking. Candidates who want an English-medium B.Ed college also take a short English Language Content Test (ELCT). What is MAH B.Ed CET?

MAH B.Ed CET is one of the professional entrance tests run by Maharashtra’s State CET Cell, the same body that conducts MHT CET and MAH MBA CET. It covers the regular two-year B.Ed. Separate CETs exist for integrated BA/B.Sc B.Ed, B.Ed-M.Ed and B.P.Ed, so make sure you register for the right one.

The test measures general readiness for teacher training rather than subject knowledge. That is why the paper focuses on reasoning, awareness and teaching attitude.

MAH B.Ed CET eligibility

Eligibility depends on your degree marks and your domicile or candidature type. The figures below are from recent notifications; check the current information brochure for the full rules and documents.

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a recognized university in any discipline covered by the brochure.
• Maharashtra state candidates (open category): at least 50% aggregate in the qualifying degree.
• Maharashtra reserved category and PwD candidates: at least 45% aggregate.
• Candidates from outside Maharashtra and NRI, PIO, OCI or foreign national candidates: at least 55% aggregate, as per recent notifications.
• Final-year degree students can usually apply, subject to meeting the minimum marks at admission.
• There is no upper age limit.

MAH B.Ed CET exam pattern

The main paper has 100 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 90 minutes, which gives you under a minute per question. All questions carry one mark. The paper is available in English and Marathi.

The ELCT is a separate English paper for those who want admission to English-medium B.Ed colleges. If you only want Marathi- or other-medium colleges, you do not need it.

MAH B.Ed CET marking scheme

Scoring is simple and forgiving. Because there is no penalty for wrong answers, you should answer every question.

The exam runs over several days and shifts, so the CET Cell normalizes raw scores and reports a percentile. Your merit position in CAP is based on this percentile, not on raw marks.

MAH B.Ed CET syllabus

• Mental Ability: series, analogies, classification, coding-decoding, relationships, syllogisms, direction sense, and verbal and non-verbal reasoning such as figure series and dice.
• General Knowledge: current affairs, Indian and Maharashtra history, geography, civics and political science, science and technology, and basic general literature.
• Teacher Aptitude: qualities of a good teacher, leadership, communication, interest in the profession, classroom situations, professional ethics and awareness of current reforms such as NEP 2020.
• ELCT: reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, sentence formation, idioms and proverbs, figures of speech and basic phonetics.

MAH B.Ed CET result and CAP admissions

After the exam, the CET Cell releases a provisional answer key and invites objections for a short period. The result follows, usually within a few weeks, and shows your score and percentile.

Admission happens through the Centralized Admission Process. You register on the CAP portal, get your documents verified, and fill an option form listing colleges in order of preference. Seats are allotted in rounds based on percentile, category and your choices. Some seats, such as institute-level or minority seats, are filled under separate rules described in the CAP notice.

How to prepare for MAH B.Ed CET

Mental Ability is 40% of the paper and rewards practice more than reading, so make it your daily core. General Knowledge and Teacher Aptitude round out the score.

• Do 30 to 40 reasoning questions every day, including non-verbal figure questions, which many candidates skip.
• For General Knowledge, keep a short notebook of current affairs from the past year and revise Maharashtra-specific history and geography.
• Teacher Aptitude questions are often situational. Pick the answer that is patient, child-centered and fair rather than punitive.
• Take full 90-minute mock tests on a computer so the online interface and pace feel familiar.
• Attempt every question; there is no negative marking.
• If you are taking ELCT, practice grammar and comprehension separately so it does not eat into your main-paper preparation.

How to apply for MAH B.Ed CET

1. Go to the State CET Cell website and open the B.Ed CET registration link.
2. Register with your name, mobile number and email, and note your login details.
3. Fill in personal, academic and category details, and choose whether you will take the ELCT.
4. Upload your photograph, signature and required documents.
5. Pay the application fee online and submit the form.
6. Download the admit card from the same portal when it is released.
