AP EAPCET (Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test) is the state entrance exam for professional courses in Andhra Pradesh. It is conducted by a state university, in recent years JNTU Kakinada, on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE). It leads to engineering, pharmacy, agriculture and allied admissions in the state. It was earlier called AP EAMCET.

The test is computer-based, with 160 questions for 160 marks in 3 hours, and no negative marking. Your final rank blends your EAPCET score with your Intermediate (Class 12) marks, so both matter.

What is AP EAPCET?

AP EAPCET is the common entrance test used by universities and private colleges in Andhra Pradesh for their convener-quota seats. The exam has two streams. The Engineering stream is for B.E., B.Tech and related programs. The Agriculture and Pharmacy stream is for B.Pharm, Pharm.D, agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, veterinary and similar courses.

The conducting university can change from year to year, but APSCHE oversees the test and the official site stays the same. Counseling is conducted separately after results.

AP EAPCET eligibility

Eligibility is set in the official notification each year. The recent criteria were:

• Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent passed, or appearing in the final year.
• Engineering stream: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects. Agriculture and Pharmacy stream: Biology or Botany and Zoology, Physics and Chemistry, as specified per course.
• At least 45% in the relevant group subjects (40% for reserved categories) for admission.
• A minimum age of 16 years by the end of the admission year for engineering and pharmacy courses; other courses can differ, as listed in the notification.
• Local and non-local status rules decide which quota you compete in. Read these carefully in the notification.

AP EAPCET exam pattern

Both streams have 160 questions for 160 marks in 3 hours. That works out to just over a minute per question. All questions are multiple choice with one correct answer, and the exam runs in multiple sessions across several days.

AP EAPCET marking scheme and rank

Because the exam runs over several sessions, marks are normalized to make scores comparable across shifts.

• Correct answer: +1 mark.
• No negative marking.
• Rank: 75% weight to your normalized EAPCET marks and 25% to your Intermediate marks in the relevant group subjects.
• To be ranked, you usually need at least 25% of the maximum marks in EAPCET. In recent years this minimum has not applied to SC and ST candidates, who are ranked but must meet other admission rules.

AP EAPCET syllabus

The syllabus follows the first and second year Intermediate curriculum of the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh.

• Mathematics: functions, mathematical induction, matrices, vectors, trigonometry, complex numbers, quadratic expressions, permutations and combinations, binomial theorem, probability, coordinate geometry (straight lines, circles, conics), 3D geometry, limits, differentiation, integration and differential equations.
• Physics: units, motion, laws of motion, work and energy, rotational motion, gravitation, properties of matter, thermodynamics, oscillations and waves, optics, electrostatics, current electricity, magnetism, electromagnetic induction, AC, electromagnetic waves, modern physics and semiconductors.
• Chemistry: atomic structure, periodic table, bonding, states of matter, stoichiometry, thermodynamics, equilibrium, solutions, electrochemistry, kinetics, block elements, and organic chemistry from hydrocarbons to biomolecules.
• Biology: botany (plant diversity, cell biology, plant physiology, genetics, biotechnology, ecology) and zoology (animal diversity, human physiology, reproduction, genetics, evolution, applied biology).

AP EAPCET result and counseling

After the exam, preliminary answer keys are released for objections. Results come out with a rank card showing your EAPCET marks and rank. Since Intermediate marks count for 25% of the rank, keep your Intermediate details correct in the application.

Counseling for engineering seats is conducted online by the state’s technical education department, with certificate verification, option entry and seat allotment in phases. Agriculture and pharmacy counseling follow their own schedules. Colleges accepting AP EAPCET ranks include state university colleges and private engineering, pharmacy and agriculture colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

How to prepare for AP EAPCET

In the Engineering stream, Mathematics is half the paper. In the Agriculture and Pharmacy stream, Biology is half. Your time should follow that split.

• Base your preparation on Telugu Academy Intermediate textbooks. Many questions are close to textbook content.
• Put half your study time into Mathematics (or Biology for the other stream).
• Attempt all 160 questions. There is no negative marking, so an educated guess costs nothing.
• Work on speed. At about 67 seconds per question, long calculations need shortcuts.
• Keep your Intermediate scores strong: they carry 25% of the rank.
• Solve previous years’ papers and take CBT-style mocks to get comfortable with the interface. You can track mock scores and chapter progress in Kosuki.

How to apply for AP EAPCET

1. Visit the official AP CETs website and open the EAPCET section.
2. Pay the application fee online first, as the portal requires.
3. Fill in the application with Intermediate hall ticket number, category and local status details.
4. Upload your photo and signature and choose test center preferences.
5. Submit and save the filled application.
6. Download your hall ticket before the exam.
