SNAP, the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test, is the entrance exam for MBA programs at the institutes of Symbiosis International University (SIU), including SIBM Pune, SCMHRD, SIIB and SIBM Bengaluru. It is conducted by SIU once a year, usually over three test dates in December.

The SNAP exam is short and fast: 60 questions in 60 minutes, taken as a computer-based test. You can sit for up to three attempts, and your best score counts. After the result, each Symbiosis institute shortlists candidates for its own group exercise, interview and writing test.

What is SNAP?

SNAP is a single test for many Symbiosis programs. SNAP covers a wide range of MBA programs across Symbiosis institutes in several cities, including Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Noida and Bengaluru. Programs span business management, human resources, international business, IT, operations, healthcare, finance and communication.

The score is used only by Symbiosis institutes. If you are also applying to IIMs or other B-schools, you will need CAT, XAT or another test as well. Many students take SNAP alongside those exams because the syllabus overlaps.

SNAP eligibility

• A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).
• Final-year bachelor’s students can apply, provided they meet the required marks when the degree is completed.
• Some specialized programs have additional requirements, such as work experience or a relevant degree. Check each program’s page.
• Foreign nationals and some international categories apply through a separate route rather than SNAP.

SNAP exam pattern

The SNAP exam pattern was revised for the 2026 cycle. It still has 60 questions and 60 marks in 60 minutes, but a new Ethics, Morality and Values section has been added, and the English and reasoning sections now have fewer questions. You can attempt sections in any order. PwD candidates usually get extra compensatory time, as set in the current bulletin.

SNAP marking scheme and attempts

• Correct answer: plus 1 mark.
• Wrong answer: minus 0.25 marks.
• Unattempted question: 0 marks.
• Each question has four answer choices.
• You can take up to three SNAP attempts in one cycle, on different test dates. The best of your scores is used for admission.

SNAP syllabus

• General English: reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, synonyms and antonyms, sentence correction and para-jumbles.
• Analytical and Logical Reasoning: series, coding-decoding, blood relations, seating arrangements, syllogisms, clocks and calendars, and critical reasoning.
• Quantitative, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, number systems, and table- and chart-based data questions.
• Ethics, Morality and Values: situational questions on integrity, fairness, workplace conduct and responsible decision making. Check the official website for any sample or practice material for this new section.

SNAP result and selection process

The SNAP result is usually declared in early January, after all test dates are over. The scorecard shows your score and percentile. Each Symbiosis institute then announces its own cut-off and shortlists candidates.

Shortlisted candidates take part in the institute’s selection rounds, usually called GE-PIWAT: a group exercise, a personal interaction and a written ability test. In recent years the SNAP score has made up about half of the final composite score, with the rest coming from these rounds, though the exact weights are set by SIU each year. You need to register separately for each program you want to be considered for.

How to prepare for SNAP

SNAP gives you one minute per question, so speed is the heart of SNAP preparation. The questions are usually easier than CAT, but the clock is much tighter.

• Start with the sections you finish fastest. English and Ethics questions can often be done in 30 to 40 seconds each, saving time for quant.
• Practice short timed drills: 20 reasoning questions in 18 minutes, 20 quant questions in 22 minutes, and so on.
• Prepare for the Ethics, Morality and Values section with situational judgment practice and any official sample questions. Look for answers that are honest, fair and practical.
• Use negative marking wisely. With minus 0.25, answer when you can eliminate two options, and skip pure guesses.
• Take full 60-minute SNAP mocks, especially in the last six weeks, to fix your section order.
• Plan your three attempts. Many students take the first date as a real test, review it, then improve on the later dates.
• Keep your mock and attempt scores together in Kosuki so you can compare dates at a glance.

How to apply for SNAP

1. Register on snaptest.org when registration opens, usually in August.
2. Fill in personal and academic details and choose the number of SNAP attempts you want.
3. Pick your test dates and test cities for each attempt.
4. Pay the SNAP test fee for each attempt.
5. Register separately for each Symbiosis MBA program you are interested in and pay the program fee.
6. Download the admit card for each test date from the website.
